Working through a Staffing Agency
From flexible to permanent: this is your journey
Working through a staffing agency might seem temporary – but it doesn’t have to be. With us, you’re building something lasting. More hours, more rights, more security. In this article, we’ll show you exactly how your journey unfolds. From your first day on the job to a permanent contract via our agency. Clear, honest, and with no fine print.
The collective labour agreement: your rights in black and white
If you work through an agency like ours, you’re covered by the NBBU Collective Labour Agreement (CLA) for temporary workers. It may sound dry, but it’s your safety net. This agreement ensures your pay is correct, your rights are protected, and you move toward greater job security. How? In 4 phases.
Phase 1. Your first assignment
Week 1 to 26
This first phase is designed to be accessible. You’re scheduled when work is available, can start right away, and get to know different employers. It’s perfect if you’re gaining initial experience in temporary work. For many people, this is their first contact with a staffing agency.
Phase 2. More structure, more rights
Week 27 to 79
After some time, things start to shift. Your work becomes more regular – and that comes with new rights: guaranteed hours per week, better agreements, and more income security.
Curious how agency work really works? Or what benefits come with it? This is the phase where things become clearer.
Prefer to talk about it face-to-face? Feel free to visit us for a coffee. Just book an appointment so we can make sure someone is available to assist you.
Phase 3. Temporary contracts with guaranteed hours
Maximum of 4 years or 6 contracts
You know the job. And we know you. Time to make real progress: a contract via the staffing agency with fixed hours – sometimes even months in advance.
The best part? You gain both stability and future prospects. This is the perfect stage for growth or longer-term commitment.
Phase 4. From temporary to permanent
Eventually, you reach the point where you’re no longer just filling a temporary role – you’re staying for the long run. You’ll receive a permanent contract through our agency and have truly built something – not just with your work, but through your dedication and reliability.
Now you’ve got job security, and all the rights that come with it.
And in the meantime? You get what you deserve
From day one: equal work, equal pay. If you work through a staffing agency, your salary is equal to that of permanent colleagues. You’ll receive:
- gross hourly wage
- shift or overtime allowances
- travel reimbursement (if permanent staff get it)
- additional leave (if applicable)
- sometimes even a 13th month or year-end bonus (if permanent staff receive one too)
And no, that’s not a favour – it’s your right, as guaranteed by the NBBU CLA.
Feeling unwell? You’re not alone
Everyone gets sick sometimes. What’s important is knowing you’re protected.
What should you do? Just give us a call. Let us and your employer know before your shift starts. You’ll be heard, and we’ll look for solutions together. You’re not just a number – you’re someone doing your best. And that deserves the right support, even when things don’t go perfectly.
Pension? That’s taken care of too
Starting at age 21, you begin building your pension through StiPP, the pension scheme for temporary workers. What does that mean? Both you and we contribute to your pension fund – so you’re saving for later, just like in a permanent job. Peace of mind for the future.
What we ask from you
A great collaboration works both ways. We ask that you:
- arrive on time
- take your work seriously
- report your hours promptly
- work safely – for yourself and others
- and most importantly: communicate with us
Something wrong? Tell us. Need help? Speak up. Happy with something? Share it.
This is the foundation of a long-term, successful partnership.
Your job. Your growth. Your future.
You don’t have to know exactly what you want to do with the rest of your life.
But you can expect to have something to build on. Working via a staffing agency is a great starting point – as long as you know there’s a path forward. And that you’re the one taking the steps.
