The Most In-Demand Logistics Roles Right Now

The logistics sector in and around Waddinxveen never stands still. Warehouses are operating at full capacity, distribution centres are expanding, and the demand for skilled personnel remains high. We see this trend reflected every day in the requests we receive. Although every period has its own focus, there are currently three roles that clearly stand out.

 

Reach Truck Operator 

The reach truck is an essential part of modern warehouses with high storage racks. Candidates who are experienced in operating a reach truck are in short supply and therefore highly sought after. Employers are looking for people with proven experience and a valid certificate, and they are prepared to move quickly to secure the right candidates. We continue to see demand for this role grow steadily, partly due to the expansion of distribution centres in the region. 

 

Forklift and EPT Operator 

The forklift operator remains one of the most in-demand positions in logistics. Whether it involves a counterbalance forklift or an electric pallet truck (EPT), companies are constantly looking for people who can safely and independently handle internal transport. Particularly in the manufacturing and agricultural sectors, EPT experience is increasingly becoming a basic requirement, even for positions that previously did not require operating transport equipment. 

 

Order Picker 

Order picking is the backbone of every distribution process. Candidates who work accurately, efficiently, and reliably—whether using a scanner or a voice-picking system—are almost always in demand. It is also an excellent entry-level role for people who want to gain experience in the logistics industry, and we regularly see order pickers progress into other positions within the same company.

In addition to the specific skills required for each role, we see a clear pattern in what employers expect: reliability, flexibility in working hours, and a willingness to work shifts. Candidates who combine these qualities with the right certifications are quickly placed in today's job market.
