The labor market is tight, but that’s not the real problem
Everyone in agriculture, logistics, and production knows it: there are more vacancies than people. That’s difficult, but it’s not what truly causes problems for companies. What really hurts businesses is turnover. The people who come — and then leave again.
Candidates who quit after three weeks. Who don’t fit the team, the pace, or the atmosphere. Who expected something different from what they got. And then the whole cycle starts all over again.
The cause is almost always the same: someone was placed without anyone truly taking the time to understand who they are. A CV tells you what someone has done. Not who they are.
At Opus, we personally speak with every candidate — before anyone is sent anywhere. No forms, no automatic matching. Just a conversation. About experience, yes, but also about what someone is looking for. What kind of work environment suits them. What they’re good at and what they’d rather avoid.
It sounds logical. But in the staffing industry, it’s the exception — not the rule.
One of our candidates put it this way: “They saw my willingness to work, not just my CV.” That’s exactly what we mean. Someone who feels seen performs differently. Stays longer. Fits better.
What that means for you as an employer
A good match is always cheaper in the long run than a quick placement that doesn’t last. Lower turnover means less recruiting, less onboarding, and fewer gaps in your planning.
That’s why we screen candidates in advance for experience, language skills, and motivation. Whether it’s Dutch-speaking professionals or international employees fluent in English — we know who we send and why.
And after placement, we stay involved. We check in weekly to make sure everything is going well on both sides. Not because we have to, but because it works. Problems are solved before they become serious — even outside office hours, through one dedicated point of contact.
Personal selection does not mean slow. From the moment you report a vacancy to the first working day: a maximum of 48 hours. We handle recruitment and, if needed, housing and transportation — so a new employee can start without hassle.
We can do this because we work with our own pool of more than 500 active candidates we know personally. We don’t need to search — we already know who’s ready to start.
